QUICK ANSWER

Most puzzles follow three reusable rules: reveal symbols with the sphere, route light through reflectors to matching receptors, and use the book or environmental markings to decode path choices.

Chapter 4: symbols and reflectors

For the first three pedestals, shine the sphere near each receptacle and follow its blue floor line to the connected wall symbol. GameSpew describes the left, middle and right answers as Y-like, C-like and arrowhead symbols.

In the later reflector room, have Leni hold the pressure plate, then send the light from lower left to lower right, from there to upper left, and finally into the door receptor.

The repeatable puzzle grammar

Colored-beam tombs require each beam to meet its matching receptor; a reflector may be part of the red beam's route. The Chapter 10 cavern uses the book as a direction key: right at the first four symbol junctions, then left at the fifth and sixth.

Petrified rooms are navigation puzzles as much as stealth encounters. Light prevents attacks, slow movement avoids waking them in darkness, and some layouts require drawing them away from a blocked gap.
